Beyond a Realm of Perfection

As the year starts to unfold, I share with you more of the work I have done in collaboration with Abdullah Rushdi (Founder of Cairo Fashion Report & a photographer at heart) and Make-up Artist Mai Ayman.

This project is very important to me and very dear. It is the first project where I used my styling skills and modeled the various concepts I had in mind. This project is not just about the clothes but there's also a personal dimension to it.

This Russian inspired, cold look actually represents a phase of my life. A very neatly kept, perfectly sharpened and on-guard attitude that engulfed me for years. I was haunted with the idea of perfection. My pursuits would generally fail to fulfill any purpose of growth because I disregarded anything that wasn't close to that image in my mind. There is nothing wrong with pursuing excellence but then something more amazing happened; I let go.

Not of who I am but of trying to tame myself down to fit a certain mould. I figured, if I want to reach my full potential then I need to go to those places where I didn't dare to before. For me, that place was an emotional realm I so cleverly hid under all that facade of strength that I completely lost touch of my own inner strength; my emotions. Through it I have discovered a creative surge in every aspect of my life that I didn't know I had! Through it, I was able to create something -a project- that will forever be personal.
Look beyond what the pictures are showing you. Look beyond what people show you. Look beyond what the mirror shows you. Go beyond*.

*I did...Soon you'll see. ;)
